One of the best things about genealogy is not the collections
of names and dates but the stories and the lives of the people that came
before you. Genealogy lets you put history into context. Somehow the wars
famines, hardships and events mean more when you know that your great great
grandfather took part.

Andre' Champoux
Andre' Champoux (Champout, Champeau) was born 1620 in St Germain d'Hemet,
Perigord, France.
Going back to France to the mid 1600's, we find Andre' Champout, one of the French
Protestants called Huguenots. Andre' was the father of Pierre CHAMPOU. This
is confirmed in the genealogical research of both Msgr. Tanguay and Reginald
Olivier, as well as in "Huguenot Emigration to America" by Charles W. Baird,
which states: "Huguenot settlers succeeded from time to time in establishing
themselves in Canada. (Non-Catholics generally were not permitted to settle
in Quebec Province). We may infer as much from the boasted success of Jesuits
in their efforts to convert heretics whose presence in the colony was detected!
